Trainer Scott Townsend Personal Profile

My name is Scott Townsend and I have over 20 years experience in the Automotive industry.

After leaving the Woodley Motor Group  in may 2008, I commenced face to face dealer training, and am currently actively involved in training in 22 dealerships in NSW and Queensland and have partnered with 3 full time training contractors, I have programs being sold to dealers in Australia, America , Canada and New Zealand the programs that we currently specialising in are:

·         Selling More Floor Traffic with dealers getting results of closing up to 37% of all Walk in traffic.

·         Dedicated phone and internet program plus customer follow up, we are currently experiencing results of converting over 40% of phone inquiry into appointments and closing 27% of all phone inquiry and internet leads.

·         Prospecting “Building a business within a business” program teaching our sales teams the importance of customer loyalty.

·         Sales manager training modules, give some daily tasks for the sales managers to stay focused on the creation of sales.

·         Automotive training school currently runs on a monthly basis taking salespeople from never selling a car to stepping onto the sales floor after just 2 days. Congratulations to Brandon( I won’t say were from) for completing the 2 day training program and then selling 42 cars and delivering 36 in just 82 days fantastic effort , you currently hold the record.

·         Salesperson and dealer licensing in Queensland.

·         Certificate III in automotive sales (being qualified in NSW, Queensland and Victoria). Giving dealers an opportunity to get some money back from the government for increasing the skill level of your staff under the Better Skilled Australia program.

·         My team and I are currently working on an internet based training program hopefully available in the middle of 2010, stay tuned.

Future development;

I am currently advertising for trainers for Sydney and Melbourne and will be branching into Adelaide in the near future, as we struggle to keep up with a growing demand for our services.

My team are looking forward to 1st May 2011 at which time we will be conduct a new training program called every dog has its day which will be running in Tamworth.

Sales Managing: The start to Start Learning Automotive

I was interviewed by  Mr John Zupp for a used car Managers Role at the Mt Gravatt branch of Zupps.

At the end of our interview we stood side by side looking out of the board room window, overlooking his used car department.

I turned to Mr. Zupp and said "Sir I want this Position What would I have to do to get it?

Mr Zupp looked at me, smiled and said Scott I have interviewed over 40 people for this position, but not one has tried to close the sale by asking me for the position.The position is yours.


My Achievements in the role of Sales Manager

  • 1999 I came 5th place in the Holden Guild of Excellence in Queensland
  • 2000 I was in 1st place in the Holden Guild of Excellence in Queensland
  • 2001 I was ranked in 2nd place in the Holden Guild of Excellence in Queensland

I left the Zupp group to move back to a country dealership but before I left I had regained my 1st place position.


General Sales Manager. 

 I started working as the General Sales Manager for the Woodley Motor Group in Tamworth NSW in July 2003 and after 6 months was given an oppertunity to buy a share in the buisness.( that is a statement in itself)


I managed and trained my team at Woodleys untill my departure in May 2008, at which time I decided to commence training,
 
Late in 2007 I did my Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessing.
